Soft Lenses

So named because the material they are made of is soft and flexible hence making the lenses very comfortable.

At Harcourt Carter Optical all types of soft lenses are available. We offer soft lenses for the correction of Myopia and Hyperopia; Toric lenses for Astigmatism and bifocal lenses for Presbyopia. Coloured soft lenses are also available so you can change your eye colour.

Conventional Soft Lenses

Conventional wear lenses are the original type of soft lenses, these lenses are worn daily, then removed at night before sleeping and cleaned and disinfected in specially recommended solutions. The use of a protein remover is usually required to reduce the amount of deposit build up on the lenses. Conventional soft lenses should be replaced every year in order to keep a clean and comfortable lens and reduce the risk of contact lens induced infection or allergy. Regular soft lenses should not be used for extended wear i.e. sleeping in the lenses.

Most soft lenses prescribed now are Disposable lenses usually changed monthly but two weekly and even Daily disposables are also available.
