 FAQs
Q: Do I have to change the solution I soak my lenses in every night?
A: YES, You must change the solution every night if not the solution will become contaminated and this will lead to serious sight threatening infections.
Q: Can I sleep in my lenses?
A: Extended wear lenses are available for overnight wear, these are disposable lenses. Extended wear lenses must be specifically prescribed for this purpose and you can not safely sleep in any other types of lenses.
Q: If I wear bifocal glasses can I wear contact lenses?
A: Contact lenses can be prescribed for correcting Presbyopia. There are several options which include:
1. Wearing just the distance contact lenses and then using reading glasses to read. This still requires the use of glasses but does usually give the best visual correction. 2. The lenses can be prescribed for monovision where one eye is corrected to see in the distance and the other eye is corrected for reading. This gives good vision in most cases but is usually reserved for occasional use only. 3. Bifocal contact lenses are also available which will correct both the distance and the reading vision in both eyes.
Q: Can a contact lens get lost behind the eye?
A: No, a contact lens can not get lost behind the eye this is because the conjunctiva covering the eye is continuous onto the eyelid and forms a sac preventing anything from going beyond the upper or lower lid.
Q: Can I rinse my contact lenses with tap water?
A: Tap water should never be used to rinse or store soft lenses of any type. RGP lenses can be rinsed with tap water as long as they are disinfected afterwards.
