Dry Eye Evaluation
Corneal topography, also known as photokeratoscopy or videokeratography, is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye.

(Corneal topography may be recommended for patients who are suspected to have corneal abnormalities)
Corneal topography may be recommended for patients who are suspected as having corneal abnormalities, for example, those with keratoconus and pellucid marginal degeneration as well as those who have high astigmatism or for those who are interested in having laser refractive surgery (LASIK). Additionally, it is used to help in the fitting of specialty RGP contact lenses like back surface torics.

To perform the test, the patient is seated facing the corneal topographer which has an illuminated pattern of concentric rings housed in a bowl shaped device. The concentric ring pattern is focused on the anterior (outer) surface of the patient's cornea and reflected back to a digital camera at the centre of the bowl. The topography of the cornea is revealed by the shape taken by the reflected pattern. A computer provides the necessary analysis, typically determining the position and height of several thousand points across the cornea.
