Myopia Control

EYE EXAM

Myopia or short-sightedness occurs when the focusing system of the eye is out of focus and results in blurred distance vision. If myopia is detected in children at an early age, research suggests that the progression of the condition may be slowed by the use of specialty contact lenses or spectacle lenses. These lenses are designed to influence the growth of the eyeball, with the aim of reducing the level of myopia. At Harcourt Carter Optical we use several different myopia-control spectacle lenses, such as the technologically advanced MyoCare lens from Carl Zeiss, in an effort to achieve this.
